Vznikají ze socketable předmětů po použití speciálního runeword svitku, který lze nalézt u potvor vyšších levelů a v pokladech. Na svitku je napsaná přesná kombinace run/drahokamů, kterými musí být předmět osazen (záleží na pořadí), velikost iridia a zda lze svitek použít na zbroje, zbraně nebo obojí. Pokud předmět splňuje všechny podmínky a je na něj použit svitek, přidají se mu nové magické vlastnosti a runeword svitek zmizí. Nelze předem zjistit, jaké vlastnosti to budou - ledaže byste daný runeword již někdy viděli. Pro použití runeword svitku je potřeba vysoký skill itemid.

If an item meets all the conditions and a scroll is used on it, new magical properties will be added to it and the scroll of runeword will disappear. It is impossible to know in advance what the properties will be - unless you have seen the given runeword before. A high skill itemid is needed to use the runeword scroll.
